The Mindful Walk Program
There are many wonderful things that can happen during a walk. The walk can serve as a bridge connecting dog and owner.
Dogs require leadership. Give it via the walk.
Dogs need structure. Provide it with the walk.
Dogs must have rules and boundaries. Teach them through the walk.
Unfortunately, the walk may be strewn with hazard and frustration:
Behaviors such as pulling, lunging, constant sniffing, marking, “freezing”-up, jumping, leash climbing and “alligator” rolling, barking and/or whining at other dogs or people can turn what should be an enjoyable activity into something, unfortunately, that becomes avoided at all costs. If your dog exhibits one or more of the above behaviors, then you’ve come to the right place.
The Mindful Walk Program focuses on
• Proper collar usage
• Leash Handling, and
• Threshold behavior
and is taught in only 2 sessions consisting of a 2 hour initial class, with a 1 hour follow-up the week after. Owners and their dogs will be given “homework” to complete between these sessions. Leash and collar are to be provided by owner. The Mindful K9 Training and Rehabilitation highly recommends Herm Sprenger brand prong/training collars.
A confident owner walking a calm dog is a beautiful thing.
Don’t just walk the walk – Rock the Walk with The Mindful Walk Program.
